Planning Commission Recommends Approval of SMP Regulations

On November 29, 2011, the Planning Commission voted 7-0 to recommend that the City Council approve the draft SMP regulations, as amended by the Planning Commission during their workshops held from August through November 2011.

SMP Update General Information

In 2009, the Planning Department started updating the City's Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The SMP regulates development and activities along the City's marine waterfront and adjacent shorelands, according to the state Shoreline Management Act (RCW 90.58). The SMP update is required by the state Department of Ecology to be completed by December 2012.
