Department of Ecology Approves Poulsbo SMP
On February 13, 2013, the Department of Ecology approved the City's SMP.  The SMP will be effective 14 days after the date of approval.  For more information, please visit the Department of Ecology's website.

Transmittal of Approved SMP to Department of Ecology
The City's approved SMP was transmitted to the Department of Ecology on July 23, 2012.  State-level review will follow these steps and timeframe.  The Department of Ecology is accepting comments on the SMP until October 26, 2012.  For more information, please visit Ecology's website. 
City of Poulsbo Approved Shoreline Master Program and Adoption Ordinance
On July 11, 2012, the City Council voted to approve Ordinance 2012-10, adopting the 2012 Poulsbo Shoreline Master Program update. The adopted SMP will be forwarded to the Department of Ecology for state review and approval.

City Council Approves Shoreline Master Program

On May 2, the City Council voted 4-2 to approve the City’s shoreline master program with several minor modifications to text in PMC 16.08, and directed the city attorney to prepare an ordinance for adoption.

Planning Commission Recommends Approval of SMP Regulations

On November 29, 2011, the Planning Commission voted 7-0 to recommend that the City Council approve the draft SMP regulations, as amended by the Planning Commission during their workshops held from August through November 2011.

SMP Update General Information

In 2009, the Planning Department started updating the City's Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The SMP regulates development and activities along the City's marine waterfront and adjacent shorelands, according to the state Shoreline Management Act (RCW 90.58). The SMP update is required by the state Department of Ecology to be completed by December 2012.
