Engineering

The City of Poulsbo Engineering Division strives to support the City's Vision Statement by providing services to the public and to private developers to help promote public health, safety, and welfare. The Engineering Division is responsible for delivering the City's capital programs for transportation, utility and park improvements. Designs projects, inspects contracted projects and developments, plans for long-term improvements to streets. Reviews proposed short plats, site plans, subdivisions, and master plans for compliance with City standards and the impact on City utilities.

Low Impact Development

The Kitsap Home Builders Foundation has a video showing the effect of Low Impact Developments (LID) during the recent record breaking rainfall. To view this video you can click here, it is a large file (about 8.5MB) and uses Windows Media Player.

Change to the City's Developer's Guide and Construction Standards.

The Public Works Department has adopted an interim change to the City's Developer's Guide and Construction Standards, last published in 1990. Section 2, Street Standards, to the next revision of this document is being adopted administratively, replacing Section 1 of the 1990 document.

These standards are effective on 1 January 2006 for all projects submitted for city approval after that date. In the transition period between 1 November 2005 and 31 December 2005 either the previous standard included as Section 1 in the 1990 Design Guide or these updated standards may be used. Applicants should state under which standard the project should be considered for planning and engineering approvals.

You can see the revised standards in Adobe Acrobat format by clicking on the following link Section 2 Street Standards.
