Streets
The Streets Department provides maintenance and repair of the City's transportation systems for the citizens of Poulsbo to allow the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in a safe, functional and efficient manner.
The street department provides the necessary services needed to maintain safe vehicle and pedestrian use of the city's right-of-ways and easements. This includes sweeping, repair of streets and sidewalks, maintenance of all information signs and pavement markings, roadside shoulder and vegetation management, snow and ice control, and support efforts for special events and construction projects.
Activities associated with the street programs are:
- Responsible for street maintenance and repair - Crack sealing is performed to extend the life of existing pavement services. Asphalt repairs to repair potholes, alligator sections and utility cuts, and concrete work such as sidewalks, curbs, gutters, drives, street sections and other flat work constructed by staff and other miscellaneous work as required
- Snow and ice control - Is maintained by plowing snow and ice during severe weather conditions as necessary
- Routine street cleaning and sweeping - For cleanliness and environmental protection
- Roadside maintenance - Mowing ditches and right-of-ways. Preventative vegetation control is also provided
- Maintenance and repair of traffic control devices and signage infrastructure - Signs are installed and maintained and include street signs, construction signs, warning signs, traffic control signs and specialty signs
- Street painting including striping, curbs, crosswalks and other miscellaneous street painting
